Manor Farm Lakes, Battisford
- Open All Year - Strictly
Members only

| GVAC took control
of this, brand new site in 2001. We applied for, and received a Sport
England grant through the Awards for All scheme. This grant, and other
monies received, provided us with the finances to purchase platforms,
signage, plants, fish stock and safety equipment. The grants also helped
us provide a wheelchair-accessible platform and suitable path; the platform
can accommodate five wheelchairs. This site is used for our very popular
junior and disabled teach-ins. We have toilets on site, including wheelchair-accessible
facilities. The two lakes hold a healthy stock of bream, small hybrid
carp, crucians, roach, rudd, perch, gudgeon and tench. There are around
28 fishing platforms, incorporating additional wheelchair access. The
site is overlooked by two houses and members must respect the occupiers'
privacy. Additionally, GVAC members must park their cars on the
concrete pad, and with due consideration. Most productive baits are maggots,
pinkies, casters, worms, sweetcorn, pellets and bread. In view of the
nature of the fishery, anglers should use pole or short range rod and
line rigs. Our site manager, Barry Miller - one of our qualified NFA coaches
- will be happy to pass on his advice. Barry is part of our Junior Management
team and through his continued involvement with events on-site, knows
what baits and tactics are producing. He also has an intimate knowledge
of the different pegs - his mobile phone remains in one of the swims! Click here for more information. |

Maypole Farm Lake, Buxhall
- Open All Year - Strictly
Members only

|
| This small Lake of
0.75 acres, has a dozen pegs. Maypole - a peaceful and tranquil site -
is stocked with roach, rudd, tench, crucians, and perch to specimen size.
Average depth is around 5ft and the water is always well coloured. The
most productive methods, when after the roach and rudd, are light pole
or waggler tactics. All methods will produce, with all permitted baits
- see rule book. This site has become a firm favourite for many members
who enjoy catching in quiet surroundings. Again, our site manager - NFA
coach, Mark Brewster - is often on hand to pass on information. He and
his daughter, Abi, fish the lake regularly, consistently taking double
figure roach bags on hemp, tares and caster … And elderberries when in
season! Click here for more information. |

Needham Lake - Open
All Year - Day Tickets Available
|
|
| This is a very popular site of approximately
4.5 acres with depths to 18ft. The lake is stocked with bream, roach,
rudd, perch, tench, pike and hybrids. The most productive methods
for silver fish are pole and waggler; feeder and ledger tactics prove
fruitful when after the bream and tench. The best baits are caster,
maggot, worm and pinkie. Floating baits are strictly prohibited: all baits
must be at least 600mm (2ft) below water surface as per rule book. Pike
fishing is only permitted from September 1st until March 31st
and pike anglers must use only imitation lures or sea fish baits,
again, as per rule book. Click here for more information. |

River Gipping
- Strictly Members only
Close season as per current legislation - refer to your rod licence. |
|
| We control four sections; including Green’s Meadow
and Pike’s Meadow, Stowmarket. These sections are very narrow and shallow
but hold a stock of quality roach and chub; a roving/stalking approach
is most productive. At Needham Market, we control the section adjacent
to the lake, and that upstream into King’s Meadow. This area produces
quality roach, dace and chub, with a few tench. Most accepted methods
will produce, with all permitted baits. Chub of 5lbs plus and large roach
have been landed on these stretches. The fourth section – Riverside
- is at Great Blakenham/Claydon and members may fish stretches either
side of the bridge. This site can produce good roach nets and occasional
chub. All permitted baits: maggot, caster, worm and punched bread, work
well, with pole tactics, or running line. if there is a good flow try
running a stick float through, varying its pace until the fish respond. Angling on the River Gipping at Needham Market, east of, and adjacent to, Needham Lake, south (downstream) of the large tree behind pegs 22 and 23, is permitted between 1st NOVEMBER and the following 14th MARCH ONLY, inclusive (this rule applies to BOTH BANKS and STRICTLY NO ANGLING DOWNSTREAM OF FOOTBRIDGE). River Waveney and Bungay
Common Pond - SCAAA controlled
Close season as per current legislation - refer to your rod licence. |
|
| Due to our affiliation with Suffolk County AAA, members can fish approximately 1.5 miles of the River Waveney around the Bungay Common. This section holds a good stock of roach, bream, chub, tench, rudd and carp, as well as specimen pike. The common's pond can also be fished by GVAC members and this is stocked with crucians; it's well worth a visit. Anglers must be able to produce their membership cards when asked, otherwise they'll be required to purchase a day ticket. | |
